This year, we held a Model United Nations (MUN) Conference that was unprecedented in Stonehill history. It was our second inter-school MUN, and with the added challenge of being online. SISMUN 21 attracted 70 delegates from all over the world, ranging from Myanmar to Cuba. Truly, our conference defined what a MUN was meant to be; global. We prepared for this conference for half a year, and we pulled it off. Two days of debate, resolution crafting, compromise, and negotiation all done online was well done, and we had delegates come back and say it was the best online conference that they had ever attended. Even though we prepared for the worst, such as a lack of delegates, or committees collapsing, the only hindrance to our conference was the pesky Wi-Fi. These two days of MUN demonstrated to schools around the world that this is how Stonehill conducts events, and my team and I are proud to have said that it was our event that opened Stonehill up to schools in Poland, Canada, Cuba, Myanmar, Indonesia and all over India. I am extremely thankful for my entire team, especially my secretariat; Diya Gopinath (D2) as my Director-General, Guillaume Noordover (D1) as my Deputy Secretary-General, Advithiya Jain (D2) my head of technology and logistics, Tanya Madhu (D2) as my director of outreach and Trisha Blas (D2) as my director of media. To all my chairs and vice-chairs of each of the six committees, thank you for making this conference an enjoyable experience for all the delegates involved. Finally, thank you, the Stonehill Community, faculty, parents, and students alike, for allowing this event to proceed, for signing your kids up for this event, and for taking part at SISMUN 21, respectively. Next year, we hope to have an in person MUN conference. SISMUN 21 even online, proved to be a MUN that truly touched every corner of the globe, and gave an experience to delegates and organizers alike, that hard work truly pays off.
Neil Sairam (D2C), SISMUN 21 Secretary-General
