LEADERSHIP & SERVICE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
SPEECH AND DEBATE
The Speech and Debate club hopes to enrich the ability and knowledge of students in areas such as public speaking and debate. We plan to execute this by introducing students to varying situations of public speaking as a way to improve their proficiency and confidence. In the future we plan to create our own debate competition over online services. The extent of the club will also cover teaching students how to create an effective speech or presentation for personal use, and teach the ability to deliver an efficient speech from memory or on the spot. Depending on the number of willing participants, we can extend from there.
FUN WITH PHYSICS
As a club, we aim to see the beauty of practical science and to understand physics concepts through interesting and engaging experiments. Last year, we built pinhole cameras, homemade thermometers, conducted many other cool experiments, and then understood the science behind them together. The club was also successfully able to encourage the students of our school to interact with the government school kids, build healthy relationships with them, and many of the children who visited us left our campus inspired, eager for the next class, and willing to take up physics in the future.
This year we intend to achieve the same goal, just virtually.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH
The purpose is to prepare young people for life by encouraging them to become more committed to activities in the fields of Physical Recreation, Skills and Volunteering. It encourages participants to be more balanced, dedicated and individuals who are pro-active in their society. The potential outcomes include - encouraging more M5-D2s to pursue long-term service projects, develop a new skill or improve on an old one during the pandemic, and priorities their physical health, even if they are stuck at home. This will also be a huge bonus to their college applications, and to the school community as it will be filled with caring and committed students. The required Volunteering will broaden their perspectives and benefit the local community as well.
CLIMATE ACTION
We have to begin finding our own solutions to the worlds problems including climate change. We cannot rely on governments and countries to do the right thing. It is our future and our responsibility. Let's shake things up and make changes that could have potential to provide not just local but global solutions.
ROTARY INTERACT CLUB
Rotary International is a non-profit that bring together people from all over the world to participate in local community service! We are partnering with a Rotary chapter in Bangalore under their program called Interact through which schools can set up Interact Clubs. Under the mentorship of Rotary chapter leaders, we will be planning service projects and engaging with our community (virtually for the time being).
Joining the Interact club is a great way to build skills such as leadership and communication through community service and to join a community of students passionate about community service!

KOREAN CULTURE CLUB
Welcome to the Korean Culture Club.
The Korean Culture Club is a club where you can discover, and learn more about the culture of South Korea. To be specific, we will be going through the traditional clothes, houses, music, etc.. and about the Korean language and history. The purpose of our club is to inform people who are interested in Korea or who like to know the culture of another country. Also, we have started it because we wanted to inform our culture since we are the second biggest nationality in the number of students in Stonehill. In addition, we wanted to create a small interest for those who are bored with the current COVID-19.
Our whole director is Hyunseok Kim (M4), and feel free to contact him for any queries! [s24104@stu.stonehill.in]
